The Museo del Sannio houses artifacts from all historical periods related to the Benevento area. It is divided into four sections: Archaeology, Medieval Studies, History, and Art. The first three sections are located within the cloister of the Church of Santa Sofia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011, as part of the serial site "I Longobardi, i luoghi del potere". Among the exhibited artifacts, the sacred furnishings of the Temple of Isis stand out, forming the largest collection of Egyptian sculptures ever found outside Egypt. The museum also includes a specialized library and a laboratory for analysis and restoration.
