Visit the MuSa, the Museum of the Astronomical Observatory owned by INAF, with Campania>Artecard. Located in Capodimonte and built during the Bourbon reign near the Royal Palace, it is the only public astronomical museum in central-southern Italy open to visitors.
The collection is an invaluable cultural asset of historical and documentary significance, showcasing the development of astronomical research conducted and promoted by the Naples Observatory over the centuries. The instruments on display, dating from the mid-16th to the mid-20th century, are crafted from finely worked brass or wood and reflect extraordinary evolution. Each eyepiece, graduated scale, print, and drawing not only documents scientific progress but also stands as a unique and unrepeatable work of art.
Of particular interest are two pieces from the Farnese collection: the Reichenbach Meridian Circle and the first edition of Copernicus's De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium.
