The Pertosa-Auletta Caves, located within the Alburni Mountains massif, are a geosite of great significance within the Cilento Geopark and boast two unique features. They are the only caves in Italy where visitors can navigate an underground river, the Negro River, and the only ones in Europe to preserve the remains of a pile-dwelling village dating back to the 2nd millennium BC.
