Visit with Campania>Artecard the Complesso Monumentale Donnaregina - Diocesan Museum of Naples inside the Church of Santa Maria Donnaregina Nuova, a masterpiece of Neapolitan Baroque built in the 17th century that is located on Via Duomo.
The museum was created with the aim of preserving and enhancing the rich artistic heritage of the Diocese of Naples, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore sacred art in an evocative and spiritual setting.
The Church of Santa Maria Donnaregina Nuova, which houses the museum, is located next to the ancient Church of Santa Maria Donnaregina Vecchia, a 14th-century Gothic building. This combination of ancient and modern makes the Diocesan Museum of Naples a place of great historical and artistic interest, where spirituality and the beauty of art blend harmoniously.
The exhibition sections house more than 300 works of sacred art, mostly by painters belonging to the Neapolitan school including: Aniello Falcone, Luca Giordano, Fabrizio Santafede, and Giuseppe Simonelli. The themes of Christianity find expression in the depiction of St. Gennaro, patron saint of Naples, and the depiction of Mary.
