Visit with Campania>Artecard the Certosa and Museum of San Martino, located on the Vomero hill in Naples: one of the city's most iconic and scenic monuments and one of the most important examples of Baroque architecture in Italy.
The old Carthusian monastery was built in 1325 at the request of Charles, Duke of Calabria, and offers stunning views of the Gulf of Naples, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
Inside the Certosa of San Martino is a very rich artistic and cultural heritage. The monastery's beautifully decorated chapels and cloisters are home to frescoes and artworks by famous artists such as Battistello Caracciolo, Ribera and Luca Giordano.
The museum, housed in the monastic complex, holds a collection of sculptures, paintings, nativity scenes and artifacts that tell the story of the city of Naples and the Kingdom of Naples. The Certosa is also famous for its splendid Great Cloister, surrounded by 64 marble columns and a garden with 17th-century statues. A favorite attraction is the section devoted to Neapolitan nativity scenes, including the famous Cuciniello crib, a masterpiece of 18th-century nativity art.
The Charterhouse of San Martino is a must-see for visitors to Naples, a place where history, art and spirituality come together, offering a unique experience.
