Visit the Pithecusae Archaeological Museum with Campania>Artecard, located in Lacco Ameno (Ischia) at Villa Arbusto. The museum is dedicated to artifacts from the earliest Greek settlement in the western Mediterranean, founded in the 8th century BC by Euboean colonists. Excavations, initiated in the 1950s by archaeologist Giorgio Buchner, have revolutionized the understanding of Greek colonization in southern Italy.
The museum showcases extraordinary artifacts that testify to the commercial relations between the East and the West, making Pithecusae an important trading hub of the time. Among the most famous artifacts are the "Shipwreck Krater" and the "Cup of Nestor," decorated with verses in the Euboean alphabet referencing the Iliad.
