The Arco del Sacramento dates back to the late 1st century – early 2nd century AD. This monument served as the entrance to the Forum for those coming from the Theater district. The arch is supported by two pillars made of opus latericium, resting on stylobates in opus quadratum. It has a diameter of approximately 5 meters and is topped by a brick relieving arch. Currently, the arch has lost almost all of its marble cladding, and the statues that once occupied the niches on its two main facades are missing. During restoration and redevelopment work, a thermal complex was uncovered, which, since 2009, has become an integral part of an urban archaeological route. The archaeological area is located behind the city’s cathedral.
